As we turn the calendar to August, I find myself feeling grateful—for the opportunity to serve as your president and for the incredible people who make our club what it is.
July was a wonderful beginning to our Rotary year. Each of our standing committees came together to set goals, share ideas, and imagine new ways to live out our commitment to Service Above Self. Watching our members bring their talents, creativity, and passion to the table reminds me that lasting impact doesn't happen by accident. It happens because people choose to show up, work together, and care deeply about their community.
Our Monday meetings have reflected that same spirit. Our Rotarians of the Day have led engaging and informative programs, and we've also enjoyed getting to know one another beyond our Rotary resumes. Every story shared strengthens the relationships that make our club more than just an organization—it makes us a family of people united by a common purpose.
August's Rotary theme is Membership and New Club Development, and it offers each of us a simple but meaningful invitation: share Rotary with someone else. Think about a friend, colleague, neighbor, or family member who would enjoy the fellowship, service, and sense of purpose that Rotary provides.
On Monday, August 31, we'll trade our regular noon meeting for an evening of fellowship at Maceli's Lounge. It will be a relaxed opportunity to introduce someone new to our club and let them experience what makes Lawrence Rotary so special. Our Membership Engagement and Assessment Committee will be sharing more details throughout the month, and I hope you'll consider extending an invitation.
Creating lasting impact isn't only about the projects we complete. It's about the people we welcome, the relationships we build, and the doors we open for others to serve alongside us. Every invitation, every conversation, and every act of kindness has the power to shape the future of our club and strengthen the communities we call home.
Thank you for the many ways you show up for Rotary and for one another. Your generosity, enthusiasm, and commitment inspire me every day. I can't wait to see what we'll accomplish together this month.
